Give Out What You Most Want to Come Back

The other day my two youngest boys were playing in the backyard together. Things got ugly fast and my 11 year old ran in to tattle on his older brother.

“He said I have baby sacks on my face!”

I had just left, so I didn’t find out about the tattle until I returned home. But I was curious and had to ask my son later, “What exactly are baby sacks?”

Facing My Demons

As for myself, writing The Azetha Series has been a journey of hope, healing and I know, eventually forgiveness. I was able to sit in that conference room with that judge and be calm. My husband texted me later and asked if the judge had a black eye. I didn’t feel the need to even go up to her later and talk to her. It wasn’t necessary because while I’m still grieving, I’m not angry anymore.

The Big Book with Christopher Gorham and Robin Glassey

The Big Book continues to excite and inspire people wherever I go and the Salt Palace was no exception. One of my favorite moments was discovering Christopher Gorham (star of Covert Affairs and Jake 2.0) was sitting right around the corner from me. Of course I had to grab the Big Book and hightail it over to his table for an autograph and a picture.

Pimp My Bio - Pitch Wars

The suspense is already killing me as I've submitted a middle grade fantasy novel to Pitch Wars, hoping one of the amazing mentors will pick me. The manuscript, Snotty's Revenge, was an opportunity to take me back elementary school and what it was like navigate the halls of my own school, dealing with a teacher who terrified me, but at the same time having a couple of close friends at my side I looked forward to seeing everyday.

Creating a Character Bible

As the creator of fantasy worlds, a Character Bible helps keep me on the straight and narrow path, so to speak, as I construct my characters. Often I get so involved in drafting the story itself that I end up with shallow, blurry characters. As I begin filling in the questions and descriptions in my bible I realize what I’m lacking and my characters become richer versions of themselves, the visions in my mind of who they are coming to life on paper.

Who is Mortan?

How much of what Mortan does is really within his control, or up to The Intelligences that occupy a space in his mind, whispering to him, teaching him, guiding him. Who is doing what? And what will be the final outcome when Tika and Mortan come face to face with one another? For both Mortan and The Intelligences fear what Tika will do to them. They fear she will show them no mercy for what they have done to her mother and father. No mercy whatsoever.

Authors United Against Child Slavery

Sometimes we wonder how as one person against so much that is corrupt in the world, we can make a difference. When I saw a post in one of my writing groups for authors united against child slavery, I realized that there is power in a group, uniting in a cause. While I would like to believe that child slavery is part of a dusty page taken out a history book, this is not the case. Together we can bring awareness to the problem of child slavery and hopefully make it a thing of the past. 200 authors have donated books to Authors United against Child Slavery. See the link below for a list of donated books and your chance to receive a book with a $20.00 donation:
